Sabyasachi Mukherjee Indian Fashion DesignerSabyasachi Mukherjee is a thriving young designer from the land of Bengal. He is the person who is keeping alive the rooted traditions in Indian fashion industry. His core specialty is the exclusive work on traditional clothes and the craft work on them with patches and sequences. His source of inspiration is the native city of Kolkata where his works are with Handlooms of Kolkata, on Patan Patola Sarees of Orissa, Bandhani, Gota work and Block Printing which can be categorized among the masterpieces of traditions. After proving his aesthetics in India, he has become famous abroad in this young age.

His brand “Sabyasachi” is making its mark since 1999 and till now he has won four national awards. He is making products for his brand under the categories of High Fashion and Couture. He has also designed for a few Bollywood movies.

Sabyasachi Mukherjee was born in Kolkata. After +2 from St. Xavier’s College of Kolkata he received his graduation degree from National Institute of Fashion and technology Kolkata and won three major awards in 1999. Just after graduation he launched eponymous label and brought it to skis just in a decade. In 2001 he got The Femina British Council Most Outstanding Young Designer of India Award.

His first appearance was in Lakme India Fashion week, 2002 where he received enormous appreciation from the crowd. He made his first international mark in 2003 when he won the “Grand Winner Award” at Mercedes New Asia Fashion Week in Singapore. Fortune brought him awards of “Best Designer Collection” at NIFT, all India, “Best Design Collection” at NIFT, Kolkata and “Rito Kumar Award for Excellence in Design”, “National Award” for the movie “Black” and “Hall of Fame” award from Indian Chamber of Commerce.

Sabyasachi Mukherjee was the first designer who worked for a real estate agency and designed interiors of two hundred residences. A magazine of Singapore, Asia Ins stated him as one of the “Ten Most Influential Indians in Asia” which was a big tribute to him. He was also declared “Future of Indian Fashion” by Women’s wear daily. Now his outlets are working in the cities of Kolkata, Mumbai, New Delhi, Chenaai, Benglore, Ahmadabad, Hyderabad, Ensemble and Espee, including International outlets in Saudi Arabia, U.K, France, Italy, Germany, Russia and USA.
