Priyanka Kakkar is one of the blooming talents in the Indian Fashion Fraternity. Priyanka had always been awed by the beauty that lies in designing artistic clothing. It is when she acknowledged her aesthetic sense and joined the Indian Fashion World, after her graduation from the well reputed Fashion Institute of Delhi, National Institute of Fashion Technology in 2006.
During her years at NIFT (National Institute of Fashion Technology), her love to create artistic and unique clothing grew to such an extent that she was then determined to make a niche mark in the industry. In order to enhance her skills and get a firsthand knowledge of the business, she interned with the famous British Designer Zandra Rhodes in 2005. She also happened to assist Raghvendra Rathore as an assistant designer.
Taking along the teachings of her respected seniors, Priyanka initiated with a label of her own, known as ‘Ankyra’ by Priyanka Kakkar. Basically Ankyra symbolizes classic silhouettes with a remarkably modern touch to it. Ankyra symbolizes elegance, with a ‘funk’ to it. It’s the kind of wardrobe the youth wishes for in order to look all trendy and chic.
Priyanka’s Designs are extremely feminine and unique in nature with a blend of modernity to them. Her designs emphasize on straight-line clothing, cuts and lot of fabric mixes on a single silhouette. She launched her first signature store at Square One Mall, New Delhi in 2008.
There is a great sense of individuality in Priyanka’s dresses as she pays great emphasis on the details of a dress aiming to give it a dynamic look by merging it with the influences of ancient art. The outcome is always tremendous and is a treat to witness.
Priyanka displayed her work in the IPLFW (Indian Premier London Fashion Week 2010). Her work was greatly appreciated as her work did all the talking and left the audience mesmerized with their fabulous look.
Amongst all the designers, Priyanka Kakkar still has a long way to go and we wish her all the best for her future endeavors. Girl, keep up the good work!
