We know…we all know that it’s not often easy to break off that tag which the media and the public bestows upon you. For years, Madonna has been trying to brush off the Material Girl image, while Johnny Depp somehow manages to bring the spirit of Jack Sparrow in every role he does! In Bollywood, many of our fave Bollywood Actresses are always slotted into similar type of roles, maybe out of choice or because that’s their comfort zone or because that’s the image people wants to see them in. Then we accuse these poor girls of not experimenting much with their roles! So we brought in a few thinking brains in our unit (who were actually idling by, driving away flies) and asked them how to help these Bollywood Actresses change their images. And this is what they came up with…
Why is she tagged so?: One silly gaffe…just one silly gaffe she made at Koffee with Karan show that will continue to haunt her for the rest of her life….and even that AIB video (though very daring of her!) and Highway did little to change that perception!
How to change that tag: Well, she did an award-worthy performance in Highway, and she also played a brilliant engineering student in 2 States. They have kind of made us look at her as a serious actress. But to throw away that ‘blonde’ tag, she should go to KBC and win the top prize….alone! It’s then easy for her to show all those trollers the finger! You have any better ideas?
Why is she tagged so?: Look at the above image…and stop blaming us!
How to change that tag: For starters, she NEEDS to throw off that accent anyhow! Once she does that, she can do roles like what Madhuri Dixit played in Mrityudand, Kareena in Jab We Met or if she has the daring, even what Vidya Balan did in The Dirty Picture. The more desi she gets, the more we will be able to connect with her!
Why is she tagged so?: My Choice…no…no…it’s not my choice that I tagged her so…it’s the My Choice video she did that got her both bouquets and a few brickbats! Her strong portrayal in Piku also helped in strengthening her image (and we totally loved her in that role!)!
How to change that tag: It’s quite easy for her actually…just go the Kangana way (we will get to her soon!) and do some wild roles, like what she did in Cocktail! And we won’t mind her in a dumb blonde kind of role as well; she can totally pull it off!
Why is she tagged so?: Gangster, Life…In A Metro, Woh Lamhe, Tanu Weds Manu and its sequel, Queen, Revolver Rani etc. etc….90% of her roles has her as a wild child that either have a mad or depressing outcomes. Plus, her rumoured off-screen flings that never have a happy ending also didn’t help matters much.
How to change that tag: Don’t get us wrong. We are really proud of our 2-time National award winner Kangana. After all, it’s really good to have a heroine who came so far without the support of any Khan. But for a change, we would also love to see her as a Khan heroine! Maybe even a Yashraj heroine (you know…the one with a white chiffon saree waving against the background of Swiss Alps) can also break that perception!
Kareena Kapoor Khan
Why is she tagged so?: Poo from K3G, the loud act in Main Prem Ki Deewani Hoon and her most adorable role of Geet in Jab We Met. Sadly, the last role also permanently put that chatterbox tag on her! Singham Returns, anyone?
How to change that tag: Can someone please offer a role that Rani Mukherji did in Black? Maybe that will help her…Or maybe even a female Barfi!
Why is she tagged so?: Don’t ask me! Check your own personal drive in your computer!
How to change that tag: We all know that she wants to be taken ‘seriously’ as an actress, but if she continues to do roles in films like Kuch Kuch Locha Hai, Ragini MMS 2, Mastizaade etc. or host shows that are only an excuse for more skin-show like MTV Splitsvilla, then God help her! And no one wants to see a fully draped Sunny (there would be a hit order already on my head for even suggesting so!)! So it’s a Catch-22 situation for her. The best she can do is to get a Khan or a Kapoor or an Akshay Kumar to act opposite her and it could work out wonders!
