Fashion shows are pretty glamourous. The grandiostiy, gorgeous models, ethereal clothes, it all looks amazing. But only a few know what happens backstage. The drama, the trauma, and, the pain! So, while the Amazon India Fashion Week Autumn Winter 2017 is going on, we decided to ask our favourite models on what actually happens in those changing rooms, and some of their stories gave us the chills! From wearing the wrong dress on the ramp, to getting a big chunk of their hair burnt off, they had a lot to share.
“For a look that the designer wanted, stickers were stuck on over half of our eyebrows and right before the next show, the stickers were taken off in such a hurry that all the models ended up losing half their eyebrows. A lot of them cried!”
” I was wearing the backstage band on my wrist and forgot to take it off before the show. In the end, I went on the ramp without realising that the stupid band was still on!”
“My gown had no lining, which actually is quite a practice, and while walking on the ramp my heel got stuck in the gown’s cancan and almost made me trip!”
“The make-up artist used an eyelash curler, which he clearly did not know how to use, and ended up chopping half of my eyelashes.” “Our eyebrows were bleached for a look to get lighter colours for the show. After the show ended, they were not dyed back and I ended up looking like a brow-less zombie for days!”
“At one of the shows there was a gap between the ramp and the backstage area. Thanks to the dim lighting, one of the models didn’t realise the gap and fell down which ended in a big injury. The poor girl got stiches all over!”
“The garment they made me wear at the show was completely different from what I was made to try during the fittings. During the show, they handed me a bikini that was two sizes smaller and I had to walk the ramp with my boobs popping out!”
“My shoe size is 39 and the designer handed me heels in size 37. I walked the whole show in the constant fear of falling because half of my feet were out of the heels!”
